SiS and VIA might raise their chipset prices in March

Posted on Tuesday, February 03 2004 @ 20:46:39 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

Both the Taiwanese chipset makers VIA and SiS may raise prices for certain chipsets in March to reflect increasing chip manufacturing says DigiTimes.
SiS is said to be trying to raise prices for four of its mid-range chipsets by 3-8%, following a similar price rise for entry-level products in this month. VIA will decide whether to follow suit within two weeks, the sources said. In response to the possible price rise, some system makers have begun building inventory, according to sources with the system makers.

Intel has announced a plan to cut chipset prices from March 28 to prepare for the introduction of its next-generation chipsets, according to sources.
