NVIDIA slide unveils GeForce GTX 280 and 260 performance

Posted on Saturday, May 31 2008 @ 19:50:10 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

A leaked slide over at VR Zone gives us an indication of the performance of the upcoming NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 and 280 vs the AMD Radeon HD 3870 X2. On average NVIDIA's new flagship seems to be 1.4 to 2.4 times faster than the dual-GPU Radeon HD 3870 X2 but it's best to take these results with a grain of salt as this slide originates from NVIDIA. For the GT200 GPUs they used upcoming GeForce 177 drivers while the tests on the Radeon HD 3870 X2 were done with two month old Catalyst 8.3 drivers. Within a few weeks independent benchmarks will tell us the complete story.
