A new post over at Expreview smashes the rumours that NVIDIA is thinking about quitting the chipset market. The site published a chart with the specifications of two upcoming MCP82 chipsets, which support the upcoming AMD AM3 processors (as well as the AM2+ and AM2 chips).

Mass production of this chip is expected in January 2009.
MCP82 is a Performance/Enthusiast segment chipset, supports the upcoming AMD AM3 CPU. (also AM2+ and AM2 is supported). It is a IGP chipset with graphic core built inside, supports Hybrid SLI and CUDA applications. currently we only have limited information about the chipset, the only spec we gathered is in the chart.

The chipset is foot-print compatible to MCP72, so we can expect mobo comes out with furmilar design. Sample chipsets have already sent to NV partners, and final revision of the chip will enter mass production stage in January 2009.
