    ATI 40nm RV740 taped out

    Nordic Hardware claims AMD has successfully taped out its first 40nm GPU, the RV740. This is a mid-range chip that will replace the Radeon HD 4600 (RV730) sometime in the first half of 2009.
    RV740 is the guinea pig and what AMD learns from it will be used to make RV870, the chip also known as Lil' Dragon, even better. Stay tuned for more information on both. In the mean time we advice you not to expect that much from chips such as "RV775", "RV790" or any other similar names that might appear...
