Antec CP-850 PSU with CPX form factor pictured

Posted on Friday, February 13 2009 @ 22:57:56 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

A couple of days ago I reported about the Antec CP-850 PSU which introduces the new CPX power supply form factor. I couldn't find any product pictures when I posted the previous article, but fortunately FUD Zilla got hold of two photos. The site says this unit will retail for around $150.
The increasing number of performance hardware components has created a need for high-wattage power supplies that can maintain stability at full-load. The limitations of the PS/2 form factor have led to higher costs for consumers and often wasteful energy consumption. Antec's 850-watt CP-850 presents an innovative solution that balances size, cost and quality power.

The CP-850's new "CPX" expanded form factor allows for better circuit board layout, more room between components for airflow, and a straight-through air path that takes full advantage of the large 120mm Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) fan. The CPX form factor is thus able to provide quieter, cooler operation in addition to the CP-850's preferred price-to-performance ratio.
