AMD to debut new dual-core chips within two weeks

Posted on Friday, May 15 2009 @ 22:04:05 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

X-bit Labs heard AMD will debut dual-core Athlon II X2 and Phenom II X2 processors on June 2, 2009. These chips are aimed at the entry-level market.
The first two chips to be announced are AMD Athlon II X2 250 (Regor, 3000MHz, 1MB L2 cache, 65W TDP) and AMD Phenom II X2 550 (Callisto, 3100MHz, 1MB L2 cache, L3 cache, 80W TDP). Both chips will feature AM3 form-factor and will support both DDR2 and DDR3 memory. The microprocessors are based on the latest micro-architecture and are made using 45nm process technology.
