    The glamour and high growth that once surrounded the computer market may be long gone. The groundbreaking Apple computer television commercial broadcast during the Superbowl years ago is now a relic, and has been replaced with newer hipper advertisements for consumer electronics such as iPods.

    But even as it has faded into the background of the semiconductor space, overshadowed by high growth areas such as China, India, DSPs and consumer electronics, the computing market remains the leading user of integrated circuits. According to a forecast by analyst firm IC Insights, computing was expected to hold a full half of the IC market for 2004.
