Acer to battle HP with lower prices

Posted on Monday, November 02 2009 @ 13:26:18 CET by Thomas De Maesschalck

Acer chairman JT Wang revealed his company is ready to enter into fierce price competition to become world's largest notebook vendor:
Acer is ready to step into fierce competition in the global notebook market as rival Hewlett-Packard (HP) has kicked off price competition in some designated markets, including offering sub-US$300 models in North America, according to chairman JT Wang.

As HP is not particularly strong in the netbook and ultra-thin segments, the top notebook vendor is likely to focus its aggressive marketing campaign on mainstream models, Wang asserted.
