Intel chipset marketing head Steve Peterson revealed at CeBIT that the chip giant is considering to launch budget Extreme Edition processors. Currently, all processors in Intel's Extreme Edition lineup are extremely expensive, but the chip giant intends to change this with the introduction of cheaper EE versions of Clarkdale or Lynnfield processors.
These overclocking CPUs would enable the company to compete with AMD's Black Edition lineup, the processor would have unlocked multipliers and the price is expected to be just a bit more than the standard models.
