China dit jaar 2de op pc-markt

Posted on Wednesday, July 31 2002 @ 16:33:24 CEST by Thomas De Maesschalck

Volgens Intel zou China dit jaar Japan al verdringen van de 2de plek op de pc-markt.

Dat gebeurt eerder dan verwacht en is een teken van de zwakke vraag op de verzadigde Japanse markt.
"Before, we thought it would take another year or two but this year itself, China will overtake Japan in the personal computer market,'' said Christian Morales, Intel's vice president of the Asia-Pacific region
Intel voegt echter toe dat de pc verkoop enkel stijgt in opkomende markten zoals bv. China. In andere gebieden daalt de vraag.
"The trend is the same worldwide, with matured markets flat or down and emerging markets still growing," Morales said at a news conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. "Things can only get better when companies' bottom lines get healthier. When is that going to happen? At this point in time, that would be speculating
Intel opende in april nog een nieuwe fabriek in China, welke een half miljard dollar koste.
