Eurocom reveals the Panther 7N, the company's April 1st joke. This fictional laptop weighs 5kg, it uses nanotechnology and has dual 16 core Intel Xeon CPUs, dual NVIDIA Quadro graphics, 256GB DDR3-1866, 8TB SAS storage and integrated solar panels.
Eurocom Corporation (www.eurocom.com), a leading developer of high performance Mobile Workstations and Mobile Servers has developed the all new, Panther 7N to further push the boundaries of mobile performance.

Utilizing nanotechnology to create a smaller, yet more powerful computing platform allowed Eurocom to support two 16 core Intel Xeon Processors, two NVIDIA Quadro professional graphics processors, 256 GB DDR3-1866 memory and up to 8 TB SAS storage in the Panther 7N Mobile Supercomputer.

The EUROCOM Phantom 7N is ideally suited for a wide range of infrastructure, private cloud, high-density and high performance mobile computing applications. Eurocom currently works with Software and/or database developers, Training Centres, Military, Military Service Organizations, Scientific Researchers, Emergency Relief Organizations, Law Enforcement Agencies, Engineering and Design Firms on Mobile Server and Mobile Workstation deployment.

“We offer the most highly capable hardware components inside our systems to ensure our customers are never limited by their computer equipment” said Mark Bialic, President of Eurocom “This is why Eurocom always strives to support the newest and best technology on the market.”

Eurocom Supercomputing Laptop Tradition
Since 1989, Eurocom has been designing and building some of the most powerful, high quality and long lasting Workstation Class Laptops, Mobile Servers and High Performance Notebooks on earth. Eurocom has been integrating desktop class Intel Xeon processors inside our Workstations and Servers for many years. This experience and expertise has allowed Eurocom Engineers to design a chassis able to support the two 16 core Intel Xeon processors along with the two NVIDIA Quadro Graphics cards and the massive amounts of memory and storage in the EUROCOM Panther 7N.

Nanotechnology
The N in the product name stands for Nanotechnology, which is, the design and manufacture of a system on the nanometer scale to produce a device with superior properties based on programmable metallization cells (PMC). PMC, in the EUROCOM Panther 7N, is based on the physical relocation of ions within a solid electrolyte, which can be measured to indicate that the reading and writing process of the processors to the memory and storage via nanowires.

Nanoionic technology allows Eurocon engineers to fit the components of a super computer into the chassis of a large notebook. The low voltage requirements of the carbon nanotubes used in the design of the wiring and transistors allows Eurocom engineers to lower the thermal dissipation requirements of the chassis design which dramatically lowers the power and cooling requirements.

Processor
Driving the system are two Intel Xeon 16 core Processors. When equipped with the two 16 core, Hyper-Threaded Xeon processors, the Panther 7N delivers class-leading multi-tasking and multi-threaded performance. Up to 700W of power lets the Panther easily reach beyond what was previously possible with mobile platforms.

Memory
The Panther has 8 memory slots ready for up to 256GB of dual channel DDR3 1866MHz CBRAM via 32 GB memory modules. With such massive amounts of RAM available, the Panther becomes a flexible tool for virtualization and high performance computing.

Storage
The EUROCOM Panther 7N can fit up to four storage drives with support for up to 8 TB of total SAS storage with RAID 0,1,5,10 capability for the best in speed or redundancy.

Graphics
EUROCOM Panther 7N redefines the gold standard for mobile CAD and 3D design with support for two 28nm NVIDIA Quadro workstation class graphics cards. Fully OpenGL 4.1 compliant and supporting a colour depth of 10 bits per channel provides the tools graphics and multimedia professionals need to do their jobs on the go.

For heavy duty rendering where the utmost accuracy is required, the ECC (error correcting code) memory is up to the task. NVIDIA Quadro cards offer OpenGL quad buffered stereo support, for a smooth experience working with complex 3D models.

Power and Battery
A first of its kind on the market, the Panther 7N has integrated micro solar panels on the palm rest, display bezel and back panel. The micro solar panels, which are only 50 micrometers thick, are embedded in the notebook chassis and appears as brushed aluminum. This technology affords Panther 7N users extended battery life while on the go. With the plethora of high end, power hungry components inside the Panther 7N, long battery life is a challenge, even with the 16 cell high capacity battery ( 178.42 WH) battery. This motivated Eurocom engineers to look into alternative charging methods, where they finally decided micro solar panel technology was the optimal solution.
