We've been hearing rumors about this card for months now but today marks the official launch day of the Radeon R9 285. Priced at $249, this new budget enthusiast card is designed to take on NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 760. Based on the Tonga GPU, the R9 285 features 1792 stream processors of the GCN 1.2 variety, 112 TMUs, 32 ROPs, and a 256-bit memory bus with 2GB GDDR5 memory.

Early reviews show the card is quite potent, its higher performance gives its an edge over the GeForce GTX 760 even though the R9 285 is a bit more expensive and a bit more power hungry.
