Word on the street is that Samsung has been putting a lot of effort into creating its own GPU over the last couple of years as this is one of the few important pieces of tech the company has to source from third parties for its mobile devices. The South Korean electronics giant hired quite a number of ex NVIDIA, AMD and Intel employees over the years and it's expected that the firm will be able to develop a competitive mobile GPU in the not too distant future.
Having full control of their own hardware will be a big shift for Samsung and could make them even more competitive against Apple in the not too distant future. Samsung’s new hardware isn’t ready just yet, as the company is staying away from a full announcement until they’ve created something worthwhile, but if history has taught us anything about GPU development, the first Samsung chip will be nothing remarkable. It’s a fiercely competitive market and Samsung will need a lot of practice to keep up with the competition.
