Outside the traditional April Fools' Day pranks it seems like a remarkable quiet news day. So far one of the only interesting snippets I've come across is the news of the ASUS GeForce GTX 980 20th Anniversary Gold Edition. A teaser picture was revealed yesterday and now ASUS officially reveals this card to celebrate its 20th year of graphics card production.

It's quite a beast, ASUS markets it as the fastest GeForce GTX 980 card in the world with a 1317MHz core clockspeed and 1431MHz Boost! It has 4GB GDDR5 memory clocked at the usual 7010MHz and is cooled by the ASUS DirectCU II with 0dB fan technology.

Special features include DIGI+ VRM and 14-phase Super Alloy Power, Japanese 10K black-metallic capacitors, memory defroster, and a one-press VIOS reload safe mode. The 20th Anniversary logo on the card is a color-coded load indicator, it changes from blue to red depending on the GPU load.

Pricing and availability is unknown but we assume this will be limited edition and quite expensive.
  • DirectCU II with 0dB fan technology: Let you enjoy games in complete silence, and performs 15% cooler with 3X quieter than reference.
  • DIGI+ VRM and 14-phase Super Alloy Power: 30%-less power noise and 5X-greater durability.
  • Japanese-made 10K black-metallic capacitors: Provide 5X longer lifetime and 20% better temperature endurance.
  • Memory Defroster: Instant defrost. Say goodbye to cold bugs.
  • Safe Mode: One-press VBIOS reload.
  • Color-coded Load Indicator: At-a-glance GPU load level.
  • GPU Tweak with XSplit Gamecaster: Real-time and intuitive GPU clock boost, and live-stream your gameplay instantly.
