A new leak contradicts earlier news about Intel's Kaby Lake desktop CPUs launching in early 2017. According to details from BenchLife, the low-power laptop chips will arrive as early as September, while the mainstream desktop parts are expected to follow in December.
A December time frame for the S 4+2 category or desktop i7 and i5 makes quite a lot of sense given other rumours we’ve heard. On the motherboard side of things, the new boards are reportedly set to arrive in October/November so it only makes sense the new chips come then as well. It might seem weird for motherboards to arrive beforehand but since Skylake uses compatible LGA 1151 socket and chipset, an early board arrival is possible. The S 2+2 or i3 chips and U series with eDRAM will arrive in early 2017.

Kaby Lake will be Intel's third generation on the 14nm and there are rumors that there may even be a fourth 14nm product, called Coffee Lake.
