Re: Microsoft wants to replace JPEG with HD Photo format (Score: 0) by Anonymous on Sunday, January 28 2007 @ 19:02:26 CET
It will take a while to convert over, but it makes sense to do so. Higher quality, higher gamut in the same space, and easily programmed into chips are all quite useful features. Will it come tomorrow? No, but it won't take long before people will be asking if Camera X has HD photo compression in it. I believe Olympus is quite incorrect in thinking people would rather have the old tried and true. A plugin for Adobe products and a plugin for Win XP, and you'd have a complete transformation in a matter of months, not years.
