    Motorola have been pretty adamant about that cheeper thana plasma/LCD to manufacture thing, though there will probably be a premium for new tech it shouldn't be TOO bad.

    The contrast, viewing angle and colour issues of TFT/LCD/Plasma devices just make them totally unusable for many graphic, design, and medical applications, so CRT's are still used, but they're actually becoming rarer as the manufacturers jump on the LCD band waggon.

    viewing from a distance isn't an issue in those fields, the quality is premium.

    there was a slashdot post asking for help with medical imaging a while back because of this..

    I've been very much looking forward to CNT/NED displays, and jsut wondered how SED really stacked up.
