Slim Devices Squeezebox Network Music Player Review

Posted on Monday, October 16 2006 @ 12:57:32 CEST by LSDsmurf

This review will be looking at the third revision of the Squeezebox. This device is a prime example of the integration of a useful idea and great design. The Squeezebox is encased in high gloss black plastic and a bit of brushed aluminum and uses a slick VFD as a display. The design is iPod-esque but results in a device which looks cool enough to fit in any where. The small size of the device means it is easy to place; this is aided by the fact that it has built in wireless connectivity. As we saw with the Sonos digital music system, a LAN (or WLAN) is a great way to connect a digital music repository (such as a computer or NAS device) to one's home stereo. The Squeezebox also gives users access to internet radio and subscription services in addition to their own music.
