Counter-Strike Source CPU performance analysis Review

Posted on Monday, August 23 2004 @ 21:26:23 CEST by LSDsmurf

Our video cards of CS Source yesterday revealed that in actual CS gameplay it was CPU bound. We decided to perform a CPU analysis with Opteron and Athlon 64 FX CPUs ranging from 1.8GHz to 2.4GHz to get the bigger picture on CPU scaling. We tested with the Radeon 9800XT and the GeForce FX 5950 Ultra to see which card scaled better as MHz rose, and to see which would hit the wall first if the CPUs could push them there.
