    Soltek K8AN2E-GR Review

Posted on Saturday, September 18 2004 @ 14:41:56 CEST by LSDsmurf

With the CPU socket and DIMM area compressed the DIMMS down and to the left from the traditional placing. Since the memory connects directly to the CPU, and does not have to be routed through a chipset the design is much more flexible. The bulk of the capacitor and voltage regulators still lie between the CPU socket and the IO ports. A 4 pin power connector is also in this area near the two purple DIMM sockets. The purple 20 pin ATX power connector, and purple IDE ports remain in a traditional position with the bios battery near them. New to the K8AN2E are the two additional SATA connectors just below the CPU socket in this picture. These are provided by the nForce 3 250GB chipset, and support RAID 0, 1, and 0+1.
