EyeTV Hybrid Review

Elgato is a company with years of experience creating software and hardware for Macs to watch and record SDTV and HDTV. With the EyeTV Hybrid they have created a pretty powerful PVR tool in a small package. The EyeTV Hybrid is a USB based TV tuner stick that allows reception and capture of HDTV, Analog and FM radio signals. All you need is to connect an antenna or your TV cable directly into the EyeTV Hybrid to receive HDTV and standard TV in digital (ATSC, Clear QAM) or analog (NTSC) formats and of course, a Mac.

1.) Your HD will never fail.
2.) If it does, you can count on adeqluent customer service to replace all the software you have legally purchased.

You might think these two tenets are true until you buy from Elgato. Loose your purchase info, by a hardware crash melting email, which by the way will NEVER happen to you, and your EyeTV will be bricked. Because Elgato will refuse to provide downloads of their drivers. Even then old stuff.

I do not work in the hardware/software sector, but if I treated my clients this way, I'd be on the street holding up a sign.
