InFocus ScreenPlay 5700 DLP front projector Review

Posted on Friday, December 31 2004 @ 02:28:27 CET by LSDsmurf

Although the 5700 falls in the middle of InFocus' ScreenPlay series, it's as much projector as many videophiles will ever want or need -- picture quality is spectacular! Its detail, clarity, and color accuracy are a quantum leap over the ScreenPlay 4800 -- the 5700's higher resolution gives DVD movies a filmlike 3-dimensional look. Resolution is important, but there's much more to image quality than just pixels. For home theater projectors, contrast ratio is equally important (that's the difference between the brightest whites and the darkest blacks the projector can display).

The 5700's 1400:1 rating delivers solid black levels with excellent shadow detail. And with the 5700, superb picture quality is a no-brainer. Many projectors require lots of tweaking and adjusting to look their best, using calibration discs like Avia, but the 5700 comes pre-calibrated to the video broadcast standard of 6500 Kelvins. That's a feature you don't often find in under-$10,000 projectors. Colors are dead-on and deeply saturated right out of the box!
