OCZ Platinum PC3500 2 x 256 MB DDR memory Review

Posted on Wednesday, January 28 2004 @ 18:42:19 CET by LSDsmurf

There are numerous ways to compare memory. This time I decided to run OCZ's memory at the given ram timings. I started out at 2.6V, ran the benchmarks at the PC3200's stock speed (400 MHz), then overclocked till I hit the fastest speed the system would run at 2.6V. I then raised the speed of the ram until it was unstable at the next given voltage. I took the highest result returned on each benchmark instead of the average as rerunning a benchmark will often lead to better performance because the CPU's L1 and L2 caches are already filled with the appropriate data. I recorded the fastest stable results of the benchmarks. I then raised the voltage .1V and continued until I hit 2.8V or 500 MHz, my board's MHz limit.
