Zowie FK mouse review

Zowie is no stranger in the eSports market, the company is well known for its line of gaming peripherals, which includes keyboards, headsets, mousepads, and mice. In this review I'm taking a look at a product from the latter category, the Zowie FK is an ambidextrous gaming mouse designed for claw grip usage.

According to Zowie, the FK mouse is largely similar to the Zowie AM, the biggest difference is the gripping style. The AM has a /\ gripping style whereas the FK has a V-like gripping style.

The product ships in a cardboard box and the mouse is prominently displayed via a clear panel. The FK has a unique color scheme, the mouse body is black but features a couple of very flashy, yellow highlights.

Zowie FK features:
  • Ambidextrous mouse developed for claw grip usage
  • Two thumb buttons on both sides to comfortably serve left- and right-handed users
  • Easy to switch between left- and right-hand functionality, no driver needed
  • New improved coating method, feels like rubber, increased durability
  • 450 / 1150 / 2300 DPI adjustment
  • Adjustable USB report rate 125 / 500 / 1000 Hz
  • ZOWIE custom-designed lens for a very low lift-off distance = 1.5 ~ 1.8mm
  • Operating system: Win2000/XP/VISTA/7/8, Mac OS X v10.2 after
  • The box is surprisingly empty, all it contains is the mouse itself, a Zowie sticker and two replacement teflon mouse gliders. There's no CD-ROM nor manual as the mouse doesn't use custom software.

The shape of the FK reminds me a little of Microsoft's first optical mouse, the IntelliMouse. The FK is an ambidextrous gaming mouse, it's designed for claw grip usage and features a tactile scroll wheel. There are two thumb buttons on each side of the mouse. The 2 meter long USB cable is hardwired to the mouse.

The front features two buttons and a yellow, clickable scroll wheel. The wheel feels smooth and provides tactile feedback.

The surface of the FK has a special coating with a smooth, slightly rubberish feel. According to Zowie, the coating helps increase grip for gamers with tendency to sweaty palms and it should also be easy to clean. Near the bottom of the mouse is a small Zowie logo.
