Intel Conroe processor benchmarked - it's fast!

Pat Gelsinger benchmarked the upcoming Conroe desktop processor at the IDF today.

He used Microsoft Office 12 and ran a multithreaded Excel 12 task to compare the Conroe with the Pentium 950 D processor. The Pentium D 950 needed 28.718 seconds to finish the task while the Conroe only needed 11.422 seconds!

According to Intel the Conroe will use 40 percent less power and deliver 40 percent more performance.
