LED backlit LCD TVs to ship in second half of 2006

in the second half of this year Samsung, LG. Philips LCD, AUO and CMO are going to start shipments of LCD TV panels that use LED backlighting.
Samsung Electronics unveiled a 32-inch TFT-LCD TV panel that used LED as a lighting source at FPD (Flat Panel Display) International 2005, in Japan last October. Mass production of that model is scheduled to begin in the second half of 2006, the company pointed out.

LG. Philips LCD also plans to roll out TV panels that use LED technology. The company debuted a prototype of a 47-inch full HD LCD TV panel that features a low power LED backlight at SID (Society for Information Display) 2005 in Boston, according to a company press release.
