Q&A with Dell

DigiTimes had an interview with Alex Gruzen, Senior Vice President of Dell Product Group.
Q: Could you talk about Dell's recent acquisition of gaming PC vendor Alienware, in terms of strategy?

A: Alienware is a well-known US-based supplier of game-use PCs and has steadily grown in performance. Dell and Alienware come from different corporate cultures and each own diverse product lineups. The two brands should find little conflict with each other and Dell is looking forward to utilizing Alienware's mature experience in the gaming PC sector.

Q: As Dell's 20.1-inch XPS model targets gaming applications and Alienware offers product lines based on the AMD platform, does the acquisition also mean that future XPS models may feature AMD processors?

A: Currently, Dell only offers servers that incorporate the AMD Opteron CPU. However, Dell is open to the use any processor that satisfies the needs of customers and markets.
