Interview with AMD

Posted on Saturday, June 24 2006 @ 11:02:33 CEST by

DigiTimes published the first part of their interview with AMD's EVP Henri Richard:
Q: From what I’ve heard about Torrenza so far, I understand that it will be an opening up of AMD’s technology to third-party developers.

A: Yes, we’ve just announced it, but it is something we’ve been thinking about and working on with partners for a couple of years, and I think it’s going to be very significant for the industry. Of course, it’s going to be a very complex value proposition. It takes a while for people to develop the products, but I would expect really interesting, creative, innovative solutions to be coming into the market probably in the later part of 2007. In some cases, it could happen earlier, utilizing the HTX slot, but as regards socket compatibility, you’re probably looking at a longer timeframe.
