The Inq heard from a Chinese newspaper that NVIDIA is going to make a deal with UMC to manufacture 80nm GPUs.
That, claims the report, is because the biggest Taiwanese foundry TSMC has capacity problems for high end chips.
ATI has already started producing graphics chips on 80 nanometre process and is using both foundries to make them.
Meanwhile, the Taiwan Economic News claims that Nvidia will start selling 80 nano chips in the next quarter, including a midrange G73B1 and a G72. That report claims it won't bother moving the high end G71 to 80 nanometres because it's readying its GX80 Direct X10 product.
