Fall IDF 2006: Intel Shows Quad-Core Kentsfield

IDF officially opens today, but that hasn't stopped Legit Reviews from finding things to write about the day before the show opens. With Intel Quad-Core systems powered by Intel Core 2 Extreme processor QX6700's all over the place we were able to have our cake and eat it too. We also had a chance to see the latest build of Futuremarks upcoming benchmark called Ice Storm Fighters.

"When running Ice Storm Fighters on a quad-core processor (we assume it was the QX6700) with a 1066MHz Front Side Bus (FSB) vTune showed that 13% of the FSB was being used. This goes to show that even on intense upcoming games/benchmarks that are heavily threaded don't require a higher front side bus..."
