Mircosoft has made a deal with Novell. Under the agreement, both companies will make it easier to run Windows and Linux next to each other.

The cooperation between Microsoft and Novell was announced on Thursday by Steve Ballmer. He said Linux has been playing an important role for many companies, therefore Ballmer thinks it's necessary to make a bridge between the opensource Linux software and the patented Windows software.

Some other interesting things about this deal:
  • Novell and Microsoft will start a joint software research cell to exchange ideas.
  • Microsoft will become a SuSE Linux reseller.
  • Microsoft will recommend SuSE to users who want to run Linux next to Windows on their PCs.
