ATI RS690 supports AMD Quad FX

Posted on Friday, December 08 2006 @ 13:28:25 CET by

The RS690 chipset supports AMD's new Quad FX platform:
AMD wanted to have its own chipset for its own 4x4 off road vehicle platformance but it could not make it on time. Nvidia was the easier and better choice as it had a solid as a rock chipset. Nvidia stitched two Nforce 680 chipsets together and made the heart of the motherboard.

The biggest problem is that you can not plug two R600 or X1950XTX in the current 4x4 and that is a shame.
