Overclocked GeForce 8800s to arrive in January

NVIDIA told its partners that they will be allowed to ship overclocked GeForce 8800 graphics cards in January.
Thr timing makes sense to us as it will then be there to meet ATI's R600 and spoil its launch plans. Nvidia might approve a few special partners to overclock skywards just to beat ATI's new chip.

We still don't know how much G80 can be overclocked as all the drivers that we tried so far didn't want to overclock at all. It is still one big puzzle but you cannot simply say the card is fast enough and doesn’t need overclocking. You always need to overclock if you have that bit in you.
