NVIDIA gains marketshare from ATI/AMD

In the third quarter of this year, NVIDIA gained marketshare from AMD and ATI, according to Jon Peddie Research.
Jon Peddie Research estimates that approximately 76 million PC graphics devices shipped from major suppliers in Q3 2006, a 5.2% increase from the prior quarter and an 11.2% increase over the same period the previous year.

The largest supplier of all graphics solutions during the quarter remained Intel Corp. with 40% of the market. ATI remained the second largest supplier in Q3 2006, but with a 5% sequential decline in shipments and decreased market share. Nvidia, the third largest supplier in Q3 2006, closed the gap with ATI with a 2% sequential increase in shipments and increased market share. Both SiS and Via posted market share and shipments increases during the quarter.
