DigiTimes reports that IBM and HP dominate the non-x86 server market in terms of sales volume in the Taiwanese market.
For a recent government procurement bid, IBM had two RISC servers and HP had three systems pass the initial screening, with quotations ranging from NT$241,471 (US$7,453) to NT$415,778 (US$12,833), according to the sources. Such prices are significantly competitive against mid-range x86 server models priced between NT$100,000 and NT$400,000, the sources pointed out.
