Graphics cards to get eight-pin PCI Express connector

Posted on Wednesday, January 17 2007 @ 03:02:24 CET by

The current PCI Express power connectors for graphics cards can only deliver 75W, which isn't enough for hungry beasts like the GeForce 8800 GTX.

So soon we're going to see new eight-pin PCI Express connectors like the one you see on the picture on the right. These connectors will provide much more juice than the old ones so you'll need only one instead of two.
