Now that Windows Vista has arrived, Voodoo Extreme takes a look at the top 20 games that were released during the Windows XP era. The first one is Rise of Nations (RoN):
Rise of Nations, from Big Huge Games, was Brian Reynolds' first title after leaving Ensemble's Age of Empires team. And a worthy first effort it was, too. Mixing elements of both turn-based and real-time strategy, Rise of Nations games could be won by not just military conquest, but other means as well. I really liked how Big Huge Games managed to mix up the RTS and TBS genres, and the end result was a memorable, fully fleshed-out strategic experience.
