A cheaper nForce 680i SLI chipset will be launched in March as well as the new nForce 7000 series, according to VR Zone:
VR-Zone learned that LinkBoost is removed from 680i LT and NVIDIA won't be too emphasizing on the overclockability of the 680i LT since they have learned a lesson from the huge FSB OC variations on the 680i. Also nForce 680i LT reference board will not have heat-pipes but just normal active cooling but the layout of the board is pretty similar.

The price of this cut-down nForce 680i LT board is said to be some US$70 cheaper than the current reference 680i board and also the chipset is some US$20 cheaper if motherboard makers choose to make themselves. Expect 680i LT reference board to be priced at around US$180. NVIDIA will be launching nForce 7000 series based on MCP68 chipset for AMD platform too next month.
