Super Paper Mario previewed

Shacknews published their preview of Super Paper Mario, a promising upcoming Super Mario game for the Nintendo Wii:
"This is my favorite game that I've ever worked on," gushed Nintendo of America writer Erik Peterson as he demonstrated Intelligent Systems' upcoming Wii title, Super Paper Mario. This is hardly an objective opinion, of course, but it is easy to see why the game would make such an impression on somebody who is intimately familiar with Nintendo's gaming legacy. Like Intelligent Systems' two prior Paper Mario games, Super Paper Mario is something of a paean to the Mario franchise, with countless visual and textual references to past games. Plus, as Peterson describes, while the Nintendo 64 and GameCube entries in the franchise had gameplay that is roughly 80% taken from RPGs and 20% from platformers, Super Paper Mario flips that ratio, making it all the more suited to paying tribute to Mario's history in actual gameplay terms
