Intel to launch Core based Pentiums on June 3?

Posted on Tuesday, March 13 2007 @ 18:30:01 CET by

HKEPC heard from a Taiwanese source that Intel is planning to unveil new Pentium E and Celeron 400 processors on June 3, both products are based on the Core architecture:
Pentium E2160 (1.8GHz/1MB L2/800MHz FSB) and Pentium E2140 (1.6GHz/.1MB L2/800MHz FSB) will be the replacement of Pentium D 935 and Pentium D 925. The prices setting for this two are $84 and $74. Besides, the prices setting for Celeron D 440(2GHz/512KB L2/800MHz FSB) and Celeron D 430 (1.8GHz/512KB L2/800MHz FSB) are $59 and $49 respectively. According to the testing result from the market, either one could provide a better performance than Celeron 360 running at 3.6 GHz, especially for gaming purpose.

As an Intel’s expectation, Intel Core products is hopefully exceed 50% of the total shipment during Q2 2007, expecting a crossover to the previous-generation product. Since Pentium 2000 and Celeron 400 family are going to release in Q3 2007, it’s expected that the shipment share would further increased to 80%.
