The Japanese website Akiba has spotted an i848 chipset based motherboard from Albatron, the PX865PE Lite. A little bit a misleading name, but in fact the budget i848 chipset is a stripped down version of the i865. Most of his features are almost the same as the Springdales, only big difference is that the i848 does not supports Dual Channel memory, only single channel so his maximum memory bandwidth is 3.2GB/s.

The motherboard supports Northwood and upcomign Prescott CPUs with Socket 478 (FSB 400/533/800 MHz). It has three DDR266/333/400 Memory Sockets, two Serial ATA ports, integrated AC97 sound, two ATA100 ports, six USB 2.0 ports (4 internal), AGP 8X, ..

The price is 10 899Yen which is only 92USD. The low price makes these i848 based motherboards an excellent budget solution I think.
