Nintendo published a pretty long page on its website about the upcoming Internet Channel for the Nintendo Wii. Several developers talk about the development of this channel which should become available for download very soon.

At the moment users can already download a beta version of this Opera-based version, but the full version will have much more functionality.

Some of the changes:
  • A search button to make it easier to look up things
  • Support for multiple Wiimotes. You can only control the browser with one Wiimote but the other ones can be used to point at things on the screen.
  • Two new types of zooming, less blurry text when zooming, improved scroling, better response times.
  • At this time, the Wii isn't compatible with external keyboards but this may change in the future.
  • Improved compatibility
