More AMD64 hyping ; the High-tech Treasure hunt

Posted on Tuesday, August 26 2003 @ 09:36:29 CEST by

The AMD64 still deserves some extra publicity AMD thinks, so they launched a nice 'AMD Athlon 64 Processor High-Tech Treasure Hunt'! The grand prize is a computer system worth around $2500 based on the upcoming AMD Athlon 64 processor and US$6,400.00 in cash!

AMD today announced the AMD Athlon™ 64 Processor High-Tech Treasure Hunt, a virtual geocaching contest where participants answer clues to find 64 global locations which have significance to technology, 64-bit computing or AMD. Each correctly identified and submitted location enters eligible participants in a grand prize drawing for an AMD Athlon 64 processor-based desktop system and $6,400 cash.

Eligible participants are invited to register for the AMD Athlon 64 Processor High-Tech Treasure Hunt and virtually seek out the 64 global locations. Contest information and complete rules can be found at www.amd.com/hightechhunt. The contest will conclude on Sept. 15, 2003.

Geocaching has become a growing trend among technology enthusiasts. According to www.geocaching.com, geocaching is an entertaining adventure game for global positioning system (GPS) users and can now be found in more than 180 countries. AMD’s virtual geocache contest allows participants to answer questions virtually about various landmarks.

The game lasts until September 15, 2003 (11:59 p.m. EST). I wanted to sign up to participate, but unfortunately they only accept 13 countries ; Canada (except province of Quebec), Finland, France, Germany, India, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Poland, Russia, Taiwan, the United Kingdom and the United States.

More information at AMD, rules can be found here.
