With AMD’s K8 processors expected to be in short supply until early next year, VIA is hoping the new addition will carry sales through until K8 processors become mainstream. VIA’s KT600, its current K7 technical leader, helped July revenues jump by more than 44%, the company said.
The KT880 will compete directly with Nvidia’s nForce2 Ultra 400, which supports the same technical specifications. |
Shipments of this chipset are expected to begin in late September, or early October.
