NV36 and NV38 to be presented at Computex

A number of companies is planning to showcase their NV36 and NV38 based graphics cards at the Computex Taipei 2003. The NV36 (GeForce 5700?) is the successor of the GeForce FX 5600 (NV31), and the NV38 is the successor of the GeForce FX 5900 (NV35).

In case NVIDIA and its add-in-board partners only showcase the NV36 and NV38 products in late September behind closed doors, we will only see the actual products powered by these graphics processors in October or later. This leads us to conclude that there will be no next-generation NV40 products this calendar year since no NVIDIA’s AIB partners want to release two high-end products in one quarter due to very obvious business reasons. Additionally, we should also remember about 6-month product cycle followed by both leading graphics companies.

So renewments of NVIDIA his products lineup will be in October or November. On the other side from ATI we can expect the R360 and RV360 in September. It would be highly unlikely if we would still see the highly anticipated R420 chipset this year, because it would not make sense to release it 2 months later than the R360.
