DigiTimes reports Asus hopes to ship 4 to 5 million own-brand notebooks this year:
Asustek also expects to become the number-four own-brand notebook vendor in the Asia-Pacific market for the second quarter, said Benson Lin, president of Asustek's Asia-Pacific business unit.

Lin said over the past eight quarters, Asustek has seen the highest growth in own-brand notebook shipments among the world's top-10 PC vendors in five quarters. Over the past two quarters, Asustek's worldwide rankings in the PC market have stayed at eighth and ninth, respectively, Lin said. But with strong growth in the Asia-Pacific market, Asustek expects its worldwide ranking to rise to seventh place in the second or third quarter, Lin said.
