Nintendo DS and Wii still leading

NPD Group reports Nintendo continues to dominate the console hardware sales with 423,000 DS and 338,000 Wii units sold during last month. Firingsquad reports:
Sony's PSP console sold 221,120 units followed by 187,765 units for the PS2 and 154,000 units for the Xbox 360 console. The PS3 continues to sell poorly selling with just 81,604 units sold during the month of May, just ahead of the GBA at 80,554 units. The Gamecube sold 10,728 units.

Overall $815.5 million in video game hardware, software and accessories were sold in May, up 48 percent from the same period a year ago. Nintento games also did well in the top 10 games sold in May with the DS title Pokemon Diamond coming in first with 331,000 units sold, followed in second by the new Wii game Mario Party 8 at 314,000 units. The DS title Pokemon Pearl came in fourth with 238,000 units followed in fifth place by the Wii game Wii Play (which comes with a new Wiimote controller) with 227,000 units.
