AMD plans some cheaper K10 chips in Q1 next year and they will also work in intervals from 1.8 to 2.4 GHz with faster versions possible at later date. The chip can also reach higher frequencies but for that you'll have to wait until Q2 2008.
This CPU should not end up slower in the everyday work compared to the similar clocked K10 Agena processors as the games and other 80 percent of applications around can not see any benefits from the additional two cores.
