Asustek announced it will spin off its ODM business into two wholly-owned subsidiaries:
The two spun-off companies will be Pegatron Technology and Unihan Technology, with the former taking charge of the PC ODM business, while the latter will be in charge of making chassis molds and non-PC ODM businesses, according to Asustek. The new companies are scheduled to be spun off on January 1, 2008.

Other Asustek subsidiaries will also be regrouped: Pegatron will take over such companies as ASRock, AMA, and Asustek's plant in Mexico; and Unihan will take over such facilities as the plant in the Czech Republic, according to company chairman Jonney Shih.

Shih, who will remain in charge of the brand-name business, said Asustek should have spun off the ODM business earlier.
