British newspaper Financial Times claims that the launch of the Apple iPhone in Europe will include only 3 countries this year: Germany, France and the UK.

The rest of Europe and Asia will have to wait until 2008.

Rumour has it that Apple made a deal with British telco firm O2 to launch the iPhone in the UK. The iPhone will only support 2.5G GSM networks, 3G infrastructure won't be supported yet this year.

Apple has been in talks with T-Mobile, Orange, O2 and Vodafone but so far it has only reached an agreement with O2.
